Knorr Spinach Dip: The All Time Favorite Recipe

Knorr Spinach Dip is super easy to make. Its a classic recipe from the 1970’s. Its so easy and prefect for holidays.

This is one of the best and also one of the easiest appetizers. You can serve it in a bread bowl with the inside of the bread ripped out into small pieces and laid around the bread bowl.


You can have this yummy Knorr spinach dip with chips, crackers and bread. So without any delay, here are the ingredients that you need to prepare this spinach dip:

Ingredients for Knorr Spinach Dip:

  • Knorr vegetable mix: This was previously known as “soup mix” but Knorr changed its name and packaging as well. Now it looks cooler than the old packet. You can get it in any supermarket or order it online as well.
  • Water chestnuts: Water chestnuts grow under water. They are a bit crunchy and contain water. These are aquatic tuber vegetables that grow in ponds, marshes, paddy fields and shallow lakes. They are very nutritious and low in calorie. You can find  them in almost any well-stocked grocery store. Water chestnuts are native to Southeast Asia, Taiwan, Southern China, Australia, Africa and many islands in the Indian and Pacific oceans.
  • Frozen chopped spinach: Frozen chopped spinach lasts for a long time in your freezer. This is super cheap and easily available in any grocery store. Apart from Knorr spinach dip, there are tons of other frozen spinach recipes that require very few ingredients and are super yummy. Frozen spinach is usually available in little, brick-shaped packages in the frozen foods section of thee supermarket. You can also use fresh chopped spinach or baby spinach.   • Mayonnaise
  • Scallions
  • Sour cream
  • 3 green onions (totally optional)

Ingredients with Amount (Serves 3 cups):

  • 1 package (10 ounces) frozen chopped spinach
  • One and a half cups (16 ounce) sour cream
  • 3/4 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 packet Knorr Vegetable Soup Mix
  • 1 can (8 ounces) finely chopped water chestnuts
  • 3 green onions, finely chopped (optional)

Tips and Recipe Variations:

  • If you are using fresh spinach or fresh baby spinach in place of frozen spinach, then wash it thoroughly and chop it finely. Cook it in water for 5 to 7 minutes until it becomes soft and tender. Do not overcook it. Drain all the water. Use paper towels and let it dry a bit and cool down.
  • You can use Greek yogurt to make the Knorr spinach dip healthier and thicker.
  • Adding 1 to 2 cups of baby shrimps make it even better.
  • You can add some drained artichoke and another variant of spinach artichoke dip is ready.
Knorr Spinach Dip with Green Onions

Step by Step Knorr Spinach Dip Recipe:

  • First of all, squeeze as much liquid out of the spinach using paper towels.
  • Take a medium bowl, add mayonnaise, sour cream, water chestnuts, scallions, and Knorr vegetable mix packet and give it a good mix.
  • Now, add finely chopped dry frozen spinach and mix it well. Break all the clumps and stir it.
  • You can now add 3 finely chopped green onions if you want. This is optional.
  • Last, cover the bowl and leave it in the refrigerator for minimum 2 hours, preferably up to overnight.
  • Serve with bread, chips or crackers. That’s all. Easiest recipe ever!

This is a perfect appetizer. Spinach is a great and delicious way to have your share of greens. All leafy green vegetables, especially spinach are superfoods and contain higher amount of vitamins and minerals than any other vegetables.


Additionally, a cup of cooked spinach contains only 41 calories, which is great if you want to lose or maintain weight. Apart from this, Spinach contains very high amounts of vitamins K, B2, B6, E, C and A.

Water chestnuts are very nutritious because they are low in calories and high in fiber. They do not contain fat. They also contain several vitamins and healthy antioxidants. Water chestnuts are an excellent source of Vitamin B6.
