Buttermilk Fried Chicken

Step by step recipe for buttermilk fried chicken:

Who does not like the chicken to be flavorful, tender, and juicy at the same time right? If you are truly a chicken lover you’d know the importance of that every bite and the secret behind this is its marinade.

Marinating adds flavor to the dish not just from outside but it also seeps inside the chicken and makes it tender and juicy and chewy. Not just that but it also acts as a preservative.

So let’s marinate it first. Place chicken pieces in a bowl, add the buttermilk, salt pepper, and oregano to it. Mix well and make sure each chicken piece is coated well. Now cover it and refrigerate for about 30 minutes.

Take the flour and mix it with some salt, garlic powder, pepper, and cayenne powder. Then roll the marinated chicken pieces in that mixture, shaking off excess. Repeat it with the rest of the chicken pieces. It is advised to let the chicken rest in the flour for a couple of minutes as it soaks up any excess moisture.

Now heat oil in a heavy-based pan. Place over medium heat. Now fry 3-4 chicken pieces at a time in a single layer. Now you need to flip them when the breading turns dark golden brown. Ensure the pieces cook evenly. Drain the fried chicken pieces on kitchen paper or tissue paper or a cooling wire rack.

How To Buy The Best Chicken?

Buying chicken can be a tricky task especially for beginners. When you go to the grocery store you will find every information on the labels on the packet but in a butcher shop, market, or at the farm you may get intimidated.

It can be hard to decide what to buy. And who doesn’t want the freshest, best-quality chicken? Here is some chicken buying advice that you should keep in mind.

  • Just make sure the chicken parts are tender and moist.
  • Whole chicken and its parts should have a clean smell. If it has any smell or odor, it’s not good and you definitely shouldn’t buy or eat it.
  • The color of the chicken may vary region to region according to its breed so the color is not an accurate indicator of the quality. But it should not appear to be transparent.
